Wakizashi in Shirasaya, with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature : Mumei(attributed as Mihara.)
Kinzo-gan (gold inlay) Saidan kore Tokinashi Motonari(Kao) Oite Oushu Nabu Hon Do Otosu.
Explanation : Motonari tried to cutting test the body .
At Ousyu Nabu place, cut the body.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Copper single habaki.
Blade length : 39.2 cm or 15.43 inches.
Sori : 0.5 cm or 0.19 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.82 cm or 1.11 inches.
Kasane : 0.74 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Early to middle Muromachi period.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened)
and engraved Bo-Hi on both sides of the blade.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach and Shirake utsuri appear.
Hamon : niedeki suguha with Ashi and Yo. Boshi is round shape.

Special feature : The blade looks early to middle Muromachi period.
The blade has Utsuri on the ji. The sword looks typical Bingo province.
On the Nakago,there is Saidanmei. Motonari must be a cutting tester.
The sword was used at Oushu Nanbu place and cut the body.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Hamidashi Tsuba gold color.
Fuchikashira : On the syakudo naanako plate, family crest is engraved.
Saya : bBlack roar saya.
Menuki : Kiku flower is engraved by syakudo plate with gold color.
