Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Paper)

Signature : Yamashiro Kami Fujiwara Kunitsugu
Ichi Doraku

Shinto: Chujyosaku: Manji: Musashi
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Kunitsugu belongs to Jo saki ranging.
The blade was polished.
Habaki: Silver Double Plate Habaki
Blade length : 53.1cm or 20.9inches.
Sori : 1cm or 0.39inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.03cm or 1.19inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.08cm or 0.82inches.
Kasane : 0.51cm or 0.2inches.
Era : Edo period Circa Kanbun(1661-1672)
Shape : It is wide and thick strong and healthy wakizashi
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached.
Hamon : Nie Deki with some calm Notare hamon. Ko-Ashi is attached.
Boushi is round end Yakikake Hakikake style.

Special feature : Yamashiro kami Fujiwara Kunitsu is a sword smith
that has moved to Edo from Echizen to produce swords.
The sword is similar to Yasutsugu 3rd generation.
This piece has Notare with Ashi well attached. It is easily mistaken with Yasutsugu sword.
The back signature is Tameshi Giri(cutting test) Ichi Doraku.
Ichi Doraku means that the sword has cut the trunk of the corpse. It must have been a sharp blade.

Koshirae :
Tsuba :Mokko style iron tsuba with tiger and bamboo design engraved in high relief and gold inlaid on top.
Fuchikashira :Iron plate with flower design engraved and inlaid with gold and silver.
Saya : Dark brown Kawari-Nuri(Unique lacquered) saya
Menuki : Iron plate with a motif of most likely a wild vine is engraved and inlaid with gold.
Kozuka : Iron plate with cherry blossom design engraved and inlaid with gold and silver.
Kogatana : Iga no kami Kinmichi (Not reliable signature).

NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho paper.
The sword is NOT qualified as NBTHK Hozon Paper yet however we guarantee
that this sword will pass NBTHK Hozon paper.
We will buy back immediately if this sword did not pass NBTHK Hozon Test.
