Yari: Sukemune saku (Shimada)

Yari in Shirasaya(NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Paper)

Signature : Sukemune saku (Shimada)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 33.0 cm or 12.99 inches.
Sori : 0 cm or 0 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.72cm or 1.07 inches.
Kasane : 0.58 cm or 0.22 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : It is rather long yard with long neck. It is a triangle yari that shows it is
from Muromachi period.
Jitetsu :Itame hada well grained with jinie attached. It is flowing as
masahada.
Hamon : NIe base gunome midare with the end of the ha in equal length.

Special feature : Sukemune is a swordsmith of Shimada school.
Shimada school has been successful from
early Muromachi period. There are many Soshuden style hitatsura pieces.
This piece is attributed as Shimada group piece and
it is easy to identify that it is the group's blade from the
characteristic of the sword. It is well-made sword.
