Naginata in Shirasaya(NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Shinto: Chusaku: Musashi
The blade was polished.
Habaki: Silver single foiled habaki
Blade length : 40.5cm or 15.94inches.
Sori : 2.6cm or 1.02inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.08cm or 0.82inches.
Kasane : 0.78cm or 0.31inches.
Era : Edo period circa Kanbun.
Shape : It is nomal width and thickness. It is good shape Naginata.
Jitetsu :Itame hada with mixture of mokume hada.
It is well grained with jinie attached. There are fine
chikei works seen.
Hamon : NIe base with some konie attached. It is suguha style
with mixture of gunome at some parts of the blade. Boushi is brush up style round ended.

Special feature : Shimohara is a smith school in Musashi province.
Hiroshige is one of the group of Shimohara school that was successful from Muromachi period.
This sword is supposedly made at Kanbun period.
There are certain characteristics in Shimohara such as round swirls on jigane.
It is also well known for their sharpness.
