Shape : It is wide and thick long kissaki. It is magnificent style katana.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. It is clear jigane.
Hamon : Constructed in konie style, kogunome is continuing to the tip.
There are sunagashi and fine kinsuji work seen.
The boshi is undulating midare komi style.
Special feature : Fujiwara Korekazu the 7th made this katana.
He was born as a nephew of Kato Tsunatoshi.
Korekazu went to Edo and succeeded the head family.
He made sword at the Hama palace in September 1843.
In recognition of this service, the Tokugawa Shogunate allowed
him to use a hollyhock crest on the tang of his sword.
The Uesugi family of Yonezawa gave him a warm patronage.
Shoken Moto-oki in Yonezawa province and Katsumura Norikatu
in Mito province were Korekazu ﾕs famous pupils.
Korekazu passed away in 1891, aged 75. He was very good
at Soden-Bizen style that gained a reputation.
Unlike the other Korekazu pieces, this sword is kogunome hamon
and has set high value on its sharpness.
The goal was to revive the skill from the old period.
It may have imitated Katayama Ichimonji sword.
It is wide and thick long katana.
