Katana : Hizen Kuni Yoshikane

Sori : 1.7 cm or 0.67 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.16 cm or 1.24 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.13 cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.72 cm or 0.28 inches.
Era : Late Edo Period
Shape : It is wide and thick deeply curved shape katana.
It is powerful looking katana.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada well grained with jinie finely attached.
There is some chikei works seen.
There is chikei work with unique HIzen konuka hada surface.
Hamon : Constructed in deep nioiguchi suguha, the habuchi is soft
with some ashi, yo attached. Boshi is also deep nioiguchi and it is round end.

Special feature : Hizen Kuni Yoshikane is a student of 8th generation Tadayoshi.
He was one of the representing sword smith at late shogunate period.
However, he was forced to quit his career as a sword smith at Meiji sword prohibition.
This sword is a masterpiece of Hizen koku Yoshi kane and has gone beyong the first generation
Tadayoshi pieces. Especially, the deep nioiguchi, soft habuchi, activities in the ha and the hamon
in the kissaki tells that this sword is his best piece of work. Unfortunately, because of the Meiji
sword restoration, he has not made many swords which is very much regretted
This sword was cherished within the sword fans and hence,
received a Tokubetsu Kicho paper and Fujishiro estimation paper.
However, there is no problem obtaining tokubetsu hozon paper as well.
Please consider the true master piece of Hizen koku Yoshikane.

Tsuba : On round shape iron tsuba, dragon design is engraved. Echizen Kinai
Fuchikashira : On shakudo plate dragon design is engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Black Roiro saya with cloud design engraved.
Menuki : Shakudo plate with dragon design engraved and inlayed with gold.
