Shinto:Cyujyo saku:Higo province.
 Shinto: Chujo saku: Higo
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Kawachi kami Minamoto Nagakuni belongs to Jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished
Habki:gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 75.6 cm or 29.76 inches.
Sori : 1.4 cm or 0.55 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.10 cm or 1.22 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.01 cm or 0.79 inches.
Kasane : 0.71 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : Edo period, around Kanbun era.
Shape : Rather wide and thick nice shape Katana.
Jitetsu :ko Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach and nice well grained texture.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Suguha base with double hamon
and koashi work which looks like Tegai school.

Special feature : Kawachi kami Minamoto Nagakuni is said that the student of Hojoji Kunimasa.
He was Kumamoto Hosokawa family's sword maaker and comunicated
with student of the great Miyamoto Musashi.
According to the many books, Musashi's favorite sword was nagakuni
but I think he was connected of the many student of the Miyamoto Musashi especially Murakami Masao.
Miyamoto Musashi was staying at Hosokawa family's resident some years.
Probably at that period Musashi might contaactd with Nagakuni.
His back part of the signature is very precious Oite Hishu Kumamoto saku kore.
The blade was made at Kumamoto prefecture.
According to the book, he was a student of the Ho-jyoji Kunimasa
but I think from the shape of the Nakago and jigane and also Hamon,
he must be a student of the Yamato Kami Yasusada.
We recommend this well known sword maker Nagakuni which was loved by Miyamoto Musashi.

Koshirae : Higo style koshirae.
Tsuba :On the mokko style iron tsuba, dragon is engraved.
Fuchikashira :On the iron plate, dragon is engraved with gold color.
Saya : brown red color with black spotts.
Menuki : dragon is engraved with gold color.
Kojiri:Iron plate.
