Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature : Kozuke no suke Minamoto Yoshimasa

(Shinto, Chu-josaku. Wazamono, Musashi province.)
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Yoshimasa belongs to Jojo saku ranking.
Habaki: double copper with gold color.
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 69.69 cm or 27.43 inches.
Sori : 1.05 cm or 0.41 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.25 cm or 1.27 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.14 cm or 0.84 inches.
Kasane : 0.69 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : Edo period, around Kanbun era.
Shape : Rather wide and thick blade. Kanei style Katana.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach.
Hamon : From Hamachi, Suguha and then Gunome Midare with deep Nioikuchi and Ashi.
In Ha, there are Sunagashi and Kinsuji.
Boshi is round shape Hakikake style.

Special feature : Yoshimasa was a sword smith in Musashi province, in about Kanbun era.
He descend Zenjo school in Noshu province. He was known as Tanaka Genzaemon jo.
His style looks like Kotetsu and Yasusada.
This blade has a lot of works in Ha. There are many Sunagashi and Kinsuji.
And also Nioikuchi is deep. This blade is simply a masterpiece of his sword.
