Signature : Morihide Saku
Bunkyu 3 nen 2 gatsu hi (February 1863)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku, Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Morihide belongs to Jyojyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 71.36 cm or 28.09 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.59 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.13 cm or 1.23 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.39 cm or 0.94 inches.
Kasane : 0.75 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : Regular size Katana with Sori. The Kissaki is relatively long and the nakago is long too.
On the front, waterfall and Kaen food are engraved and on the back, Suken and Tokko are engraved nice ly.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada and Ko-Mokume Hada mixed with Jinie attached. The Jigane is nice.
Hamon : Niedeki gunome midare with Kinsuji and sunagashi work.
Boshi is midare and round turn back.

Special feature : Morihide Saku is a sword smith in Nagato province.
He engraved signature Nagato-Kuni Morihide, Suou Ju Morihide and Choshu Ju Fujimoto Zaemon Morihide Saku.
The style of Hamon is similar to Seiryuken Moritoshi, so Morihide is same as Seiryuken Moritoshi in some books.
We guess that this beautiful blade was used in shrines or temples.
This sword is healthy and wonderful texture.
This item Itame-hada well grained with Masa-nagare on the Shinogiji.
