Katana : Mumei (Den Yamato Shizu)

Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper)

Signature : Mumei (Den Yamato Shizu)

The blade was polished.
Habaki: Gold single foiled habaki
Blade length : 71.5 cm or 28.15 inches.
Sori : 1.3 cm or 0.51 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.84 cm or 1.12 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.13 cm or 0.84 inches.
Kasane : 0.63 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Late Kamakura period.
Shape : It is osuriage mumei with regular width and thickness.
There are some sori and the kissaki is long.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attach.
The hada is clearly seen.
There is strong jigane with chikei attached.
It is itame hada with some flow of masa on Shinogi-ji.
Hamon : Konie structure, suguha style with some notare mixed.
There is uchinoke mixed and fine sunagashi and kinsuji works
could we observed.
Boushi is double or even triple ha and is hakikake brush up style on the tip of the ha.

Special feature : Jigane is well grained with O-itame hada attached.
The blade reminds of Yamato Senjyuin hamon yet it also remind of soshu style of Shizu blade.
There are many fine activities in the ha.
It is an fantastic sword that could be enjoyed for long time.
