Katana : Mumei (Kanenori)

Shirasaya in Shirasaya, with Koshirae. (NBTHK Hozon Token)

Signature: Mumei (Kanenori)

The blade need polish.
Habaki : Silver single habaki.
Blade length : 78.0 cm or 30.7 inches.
Sori : 2.6 cm or 1.02 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.1 cm or 1.22 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.88 cm or 0.74 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.27 inches.
weight : 750 gram
Era : Early Edo period
Shape : It is rather wide and thick, deep sori katana nice looking shape.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached. There are delicate chikei seen.
Hamon : Konie base, gnome mix with, ashi well put with mixture of sunagashi and kinsuji. Boushi is round end.

Special feature : This piece seem to be Mino Kanenori or Akasakasenjyuuinn blade.
But NBTHK says that the blade is judged as Kanenori which was made around late Muromachi period.
The blade is deep sori elegant shape and well grained texture with sunagashi and kinsuji work.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Round thick iron Tsuba.
Fuchikashira : Shakudouji with dragon engraved
Saya : Black roiro saya
Menuki : Shakudou base with flower design engraved . From the gold parts, it is estimated that it is uttori.

Historical background: 1575 Nagashino battle happened between Nobunaga troops and Takeda shingen.
Nobunaga troops with Tokugawa ieyasu used many guns and defeated Takeda troops.
