Katana : Mumei (Kashu Ietsugu)

Katana in Koshirae(NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature: Mumei (Kashu Ietsugu)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 63.6 cm or 25.03 inches.
Sori : 1.7cm or 0.66 inches.
Mekugi: 3
Width at the hamachi : 2.7 cm or 1.06 inches.
Width at the Kissaki :1.88 cm or 0.74 inches.
Kasane : 0.63 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Muromachi period, Oei era(1394-1427)
Shape : Oosuriage Mumei with regular shape.
Kasane is thin with ample sori.
Jitetsu :Well grained itame hada with jinie attached.
Slight utsuri(white smog like shape on gingane) can be seen.
Hamon : Niedeki small gunome midair with Choji midair mixed
and in Ha, small sunagashi and Kinsuji work.
Boshi is midarekomi with kinsuji.

Special feature : Kashuu Ietsugu was a successful smith
from Edo era Ouei period to late Muromachi period.
This piece is likely to be made at Mid Muromachi period.
It resembles Fujishima school and Kozori bizen school.
There are little flaws in the ji and
Chikei is seen on the jigane. The ha is active so it will rarely make you bored.
It is judged as sword smith of Kaga on hozon paper.

Koshirae : Issaku Koshirae(all the part in koshirae is made by same person.)
Tsuba :
Fuchikashira :Shakudou tsuba with chrysanth engraved with gold inlay.
Saya : Black ishimeji saya
Menuki : A big shakudou tsuba with tachi and kabut oengraved with gold inlay. It is rare design.
