Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae(59th NBTHK Juyo Paper)

Signature : Mumei (Ko Mihara)

Translation of Tanobe-sensei's Sayagaki: Bingo koku Ko-Mihara, Oosuriage Mumei.
The blade has clear characteristic of the above smith and school.
This blade is healthy. This blade looks like Masahiro and Masanobu.

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 70.0 cm or 27.55 inches.
Sori : 1.6 cm or 0.62 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.85 cm or 1.12 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.82 cm or 0.71 inches.
Kasane : 0.63 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : late Kamakura period.
Shape : Oosuriage Mumei Katana with elegant Sori.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach. There are Chikei.
Hamon : Nie Deki Suguha with many Ashi.
Boshi is round Hakikake shape.

Special feature : Mihara school had been prospered from late Kamakura
to late Muromachi period in Bingo province present Okayama prefecture.
This blade was made around late Kamakura period. The Jigane is quite nice.
There are Chikei and other nice works in Ha. This blade looks like Aoe.

Koshirae:
Tsuba: Round shape iron Tsuba, clouds and dragon are engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo Ishime-ji, dragon is engraved with gold color.
Menuki:Shakudo, dragon is engraved with gold color.
Saya: Black Ishime-ji Saya
