Katana: Mumei (Kouda)

Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature: Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Kouda school.

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 73 cm or 28.74 inches.
Sori : 1.8cm or 0.70 inches.
Mekugi: 2
Width at the hamachi :2.98 cm or 1.17 inches.
Kasane : 0.63cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Nanbokucyo period.
Shape : The blade is wide and deep sori with nice looking shape.
Jitetsu :Itame hada and mokume hada mixed
with jinie attach blackish jigane.
Hamon : Konie deki gunome midare with ashi.

Special feature : Uda school started from Late Kamakura period
by founder Konyudo Kunimitsu and at Nanbokucyo period,
many sword makers like Kunifusa, Kunimune kunitsugu
and others were making nice swords.
Generally The jigane of Kouda school become blackish
and Hadatachi jigane(Itame hada and Masame hada mixed)
This sword is wide and nice looking deep sori Nagamaki style.
On the Ji, shirake utsuri like straight along
with Hamon and many charming spots on this sword.
The blade accompanied with NBTHK Tokubetsu hozon paper.
