Katana in Shirasaya

Signature : Nagamitsu
The blade was polished.
Habaki : Silver and shakudo double habaki
Blade length : 67.2 cm or 26.46 inches.
Sori : 1.70 cm or 0.67 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.31 cm or 1.30 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.36 cm or 0.93 inches.
Kasane : 0.75 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Showa period.
Shape : It is wide and thick with some sori. Kissaki is long end.
It is magnificent style katana.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached.
Hamon : Nie structure choji midare with gunome midare mixed. Nioiguchi is soft style and ashi is well attached. Boshi is round end.

Special feature : Nagamitsu was a Director for Inspection
at Okayama Prison.
He was said to be making katana for the prisoner however,
the details are unknown.
He was an authorized army sword smith and had won prizes at Army Gunto Skill Encouragement Awards.
Nagamitsu has made nice pieces. The well polished swords are much interesting than Yasukuni swords.
This sword is masterpiece of Nagamitsu and at a glance.
It is high quality Shinshinto piece of work.
There are signature as Ichihara Nagamitsu, Bizen Nagamitsu
Ichihara Ichiryuushi Chouunsai Emura Nagamitsu.
It is easily mistaken with Emura sword however, Emura is a Chief Officer at Okayama Prison and Nagamitsu was said
to be working under him as a Director for Inspection.
