Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature: Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Momokawa school.

The blade was polished.
Habaki: copper single habaki.
Blade length : 69.4cm or 27.32 inches.
Sori : 2.1cm or 0.82 inches.
Mekugi: 2
Width at the hamachi :2.97 cm or 1.16 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.08cm or 0.81 inches.
Kasane : 0.67 cm or 0.26 inches.
Weight: 705grams
Era :Middle to late Muromachi period.
Shape : The blade is rather wide and thick with deep sori nice looking shape.
Jitetsu :Ayasugi hada well grained with jinie attach and Chikei work along with jigane.
Hamon : Koniedeki suguha and small noter and boshi is round shape.

Special feature : The blade was judged as Momokawa school at NBTHK shinsa.
Kanro school sword makers moved to Echigo Momokawa province from Kyoto. They are influenced from Gassan school.
This sword was made by Ayasugi jigane like Gassan school.
Probably these school was influenced a lot from Gassan or Hojyu school. The blade is elegant nice style and nice Jigane and hamon.
The blade is good condition without Kizu and flow.
