Katana in Koshirae

Signature : Mumei (Sue Bizen)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 60.60 cm or 23.85 inches.
Sori : 1.65 cm or 0.64 inches.
Mekugi : 3
Width at the hamachi : 2.71 cm or 1.06 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 17.7 cm or 6.96 inches.
Kasane : 0.66 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : Regular size Suriage Mumei Katana.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada grained with Jinie attached.
The Hada pattern is clearly appearing.
On the Shinogi, there is Kizu.
Hamon : Nie Deki Suguha base, Notare and Ko-Gumome mixed.
Boshi is Midarekomi Hakikake style.

Special feature : From the work, we think that this blade was made
around late Muromachi period. It is most likely a sword of Bizen sword smith.
This blade has nice Koshriae.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Round shape iron Saotome Tsuba.
Fuchi: Shakudo, shells and waves are engraved with gold color.
Kashira : Black horn or wood with gold color.
Saya : Black and red color Kawari nuri Saya with family crest.
Menuki : Shakudo, Hotei god is engraved with gold color.
Kozuka : Shakudo, dragon is engraved with gold color. Back is copper.
