Katana : Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Enjyu

Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper)

Signature : Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Enjyu.

The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki : Gold foiled double habaki.
Blade length : 65.2 cm or 25.66 inches.
Sori : 1.8 cm or 0.70 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.85 cm or 1.122 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.91 cm or 0.75 inches.
Kasane : 0.75 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Late Kamakura period.1320 (700 years ago)
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei and rather wide and thick with deep sori nice looking shape.
Jitetsu : Koitame had and mokume had mixed with jinie attach quite well texture.
Hamon : Koniedeki suguha with soft feeling ash work.

Special feature : A grand child Kunimura of Rai Kuniyuki moved to Higo Kikuchi area and made swords with Kunimura, Kunitoki, Kuniyasu and Kuniyoshi.
These sword makers are a stream of Rai school so the blade hamon and jiganeare very similar.
It is very difficult to judge the sword is enjoy or Rai Kunitoshi.
The Jigane is marvelous texture and also elegant hamon.
Enjyu swords are welcomed to by Daimyo in order to present to high ranking Daimyo or other purpose,
because the sword name is Enjyu(good fortune) We strongly recommend this sword for you.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : On the Kiku shaped iron Tsuba, somethig is engraved with open work.
Fuchikashira : On shakudo nanakoji plate, Genpei war scheme is engraved and inlaid with gold.
Menuki : Shakudo plate, Samurai design engraved and inlaid with gold.
Saya : On the black Saya, Dragon is painted.
