Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae. (NBTHK Tokubetu Hozon paper)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Michioki belongs to Saijyo ranking.
High Quality polish applied
The blade was polished
Blade length : 71.21 cm or 28.04 inches.
Sori : 1.52 cm or 0.6 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.82 cm or 1.11 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.96 cm or 0.77 inches.
Kasane : 0.79cm or 0.31 inches.
Era : Late Edo Period
Shape : It is long Nakago and regular width and thickenss.
It is long Kissaki nice shape katana.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with Nashime hada.
There is undulating chikei works applied.
Hamon : Nie Deki gunome midare with mixture of Choji midare.
There are sunagashi and fine kinsuji activities.
Boshi is brush up Hakikake style and burned down hamon.

Special feature : Mutsu Aizu Jyu fujiwara Michioki is famous gorup worked
from first genearion to 6th generation. This work was made by the 6th generation.
He is the sword smith from Mutsu Iwashiro. Becoming a student of Shoken Motooki ,
he studies hard his master's style.
Especially, the jigane is a masterpiece and it is beautiful than Aizu Kanesada work.
The sword has much sharpness and usefulness.
This piece again has wondeful jigane and the hamon works are beautiful.
It is nice jigane and hamon.

Koshirae : It is nice balance koshirae.
Tsuba :Round shape iron tsuba with rim standing up. Middle Edo Period
Fuchikashira :Shakudo Ishimeji Late Edo Period
Saya : Black Ishimeji saya.
Menuki : Shakudo plate with dragon design engraved. Middle Edo Period.

Historical background: Keio 2nd year January 23rd Teradaya Incident.
Sakamoto Ryoma was attacked but was successful in escaping.
