Katana: Sakai Ikkansai Shigemasa Seiren

Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae.
Signature : Sakai Ikkansai Shigemasa Seiren. NBTHK Hozon Token.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword :Sakai Ikkansai Shigemasa belongs to Jyo-Jyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished by good polisjer.
Habaki :copper single habaki.
Blade length :  62.8 cm or 2.47 inches.
Sori : 2.0 cm or 0.79 inches.
Mekugi : 1 
Width at the hamachi : 3.25cm or 1.28 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.41 cm or 0.95 inches.
Kasane : 0.81cm or 0.32 inches.
Era : Showa 19th, during war time.
Shape : The blade is wide and thick healthy blade with nice sori and longer Kissaki.
Jigane : Koitame-hada well grained with Jinie attach beautiful texture.
Hamon : Niedeki with thick Nioukuchi Choji Midare.
In Hamon, Sunagashi and small Kinsuji work.
Special feature: Sakai Shigemasa was called Sakai Kan and was born at Meiji 38th at Shizuoka prefecture.
when he was 16th years old, he went to Tokyo and studied under the Kasama Ikkansai Shigetsugu. At Showa 18th, he worked under the Yasuhiro Miyaguchi at Yasukuni Tanrenjyo.
But his master Miyaguchi Yasuhuhiro and Shigemasa also retired from Yasukuni Tanrenjo and studied under the Ookura Tanrenjo and after that, he made his own Tanrenjo.
After the war, he restarted to forge swords and made a lot of swords.
Ay Showa 56th, he became Mukansa sword maker from NBTHK.
He is very skillful for engraving on the sword.
This sword is very active wonderful Cyoji Midare Hamon.
