Katana: Sesshu Fujiwara Kanesada

Katana in Shirasaya (NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Paper)

Signature: Sesshu Fujiwara Kanesada Atamawari itaru Tenmei Nen naka Tachibana Yasutoyo Motome kore.
Shoou 3 nen chouyo Kamata Jubei jo Taira Shigeyoshi Shoji kore.

explanation: Sesshu fujiwara Kanesada Tenmei middle age,
At syoou 3rd year, September 9th the owner oh this sword Kamata jyubei Jyo Taira Shigeyoshi asked Tachibana Yasutoyo Tameshigiri and cut the head by this sword. Kanzan sensei wrote the sayagaki for this sword.

The blade was polished.
habaki:syakudo single habaki.
Blade length : 72.12 cm or 28.39 inches.
Sori : 1.45 cm or 0.57 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.98 cm or 1.17 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.78 cm or 0.70 inches.
Kasane : 0.61 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Edo period Kanei era.
Shape : The blade is wide and thick and about 4cm Surigage.
sori is rather small and lokger kissaki,
Jitetsu :Koitame had well grained with jinie attach nice beautiful texture.
On th shinogiji, there are some oohed.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha with thicker nioikuchi and especially
upper part of the hamon, gunome midair with thick nioikushi.
Boshi is round shape.

Special feature : Sesshu fujiwara Kanesada was named Yamada Taira Dayu who was a student of the Iga Kami Kanemichi and got his Kanji(character Kane) and named Fujiwara Kanesada.
This sword is good condition and also Tameshigiri sword.
