The blade was polished.
Habaki : Ssilver foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 53.6 cm or 21.10 inches.
Sori : 1.3 cm or 0.51inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the Hamachi : 2.66 cm or 1.04 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.85 cm or 0.72 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Weight of only blade : 482 g
Era : Edo period circa Kanbun
Shape : It is normal width and thickness. It is deep sori nice shape katana.
There are double strip of hi engraved.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. It is original konuka-hada.
Hamon : Nie base with shallow gunome midare. The noi-guchi is deep with sunagashi.
The hamon continues same style until the bo-shi area and reverse roundly.

Special feature : Kawachi no kami Fujiwara Masahiro was a son of first generation Masahiro.
His first signature was Masanaga. He has received the post of Musashi no kami after being Musashi-daisho.
Later on at Kanbun 5th period, he has changed his post to Kawachi no kami and at the same time has changed his signature to Masahiro.
He has passed away at Genroku 13th year(1700) August 6th.
Alike first generation, he has left many masterpieces with deep nioiguchi and gunome temper line.
This sword is one of the typical second generation Masahiro swords. It is rather calm than his usual pieces.
This sword has passed NBTHK hozon paper.

Historical background : It is the time in Edo period when calmness started to come back.
Many sword smith has competed to make fine quality piece.
It is somewhat similar to the modern Japan.
Those smithes could easily filtered out if they did not make high quality swords.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Otafuku shape with iron tsuba. There are flower pattern engraved and inlayed with shakudo and gold.
Fuchikashira : Iron plate with flower pattern engraved and inlayed with shakudo and gold.
Saya : Black saya with limpet sparkled in stripes.
Menuki : Shakudo plate with flower design engraved and inlayed with gold.
