Tanto in Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon paper) (consignment sale)
Signature : Bishu Osafune Katsumitsu
Meiou 10Nen 2 Gatsuhi (the blade was made at 1599 Feb)
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijo saku, Jojo saku Jo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs Jojo saku ranking.

The blade is polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled single Habaki.
Blade length : 14.1 cm or 5.55 inches.
Sori : 0.0 cm or 0.0 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the Hamachi : 1.74 cm or 0.68 inches.
Kasane : 0.5 cm or 0.20 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period (1599)
Shape : The blade is having long Nakago.
But the blade is very compact like Yomeiri Tanto.
Jigane : Koitame Hada well grained with Jinie attach Bo-Utsuri appear.
Hamon : Koniedeki choji midare and boshi is round shape and long Yakisage style.

Special feature: The founder of Bishu Osafune Katsumitsu started
Ouei era to Eisho. We can say that This blade is first generation
because of the Uramei.
It is said at Bunmei era, Japan exported alot of Japanese swords to
China. He was a son of Rokuro zaemon Sukemitsu and called Ukyo suke Katsumitsu and his young brother Munemitsu is also quite well known sword smith.
This blade is called Shiire-uchi but both Hamon and Jigane are
quite well done.
Koshirae : On the black Roiro Saya, nice Makie was done by gold and tiny blue shell.
This Tanto with Koshirae is suitable for Yomeiri Tanto.

Yomeiri Tanto (The parents had a custom to hand a bride over a small
sized Tanto for self-protection in the case when a daughter married. It
is sake of readiness to marry into an another family and also protect
own body Such a traditional custom continues in a good family even in
modern times.)
Koshirae : wood Koshirae with black rorio and painted cherry flowerss by gold color.
Saya : on the black roiro saya, many cherry flowers are painted by gold color.
