The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold double foiled habaki
Blade length : 69.9 cm or 27.5 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.6 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.10 cm or 1.2 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.19 cm or 0.9 inches.
Kasane : 0.66 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Nanbokucho period.
Shape : Oosuriage mumei. It is rather wide, regular thickness. There are bohi engraved on both side with long kissaki.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada with mokume mix. JInie attached.
There is clear jigane with bright utsuri.
Hamon : Konie base suguha. Kokashi and nezumiashi is put well.
In the ha, kinsuji is well put with boushi tarumi goroni some hakihake on the top part.

Special feature : Shigezane is said to be a younger brother or student of Motoshige.
He has later on become a student of Sadamune's student. His piece is Sugu-Sakaashi Hamon.
Those are similar to Motoshige and Chikakage pieces.
This katana has healthy ji and ha. There are midare utsuri seen also seen in the ji.
It is calm suguha style hamon. There are also active as his attached. It is old looking piece.
The jigane is especially nice and it is no exaggeration to say that it is a masterpiece.

Koshirae : It is strong looking koshirae.
Tsuba : Round shape iron tsuba with patterns engraved and inlayed with gold.
fuchigashira : Granulated shakudou with dragon engraved and inlayed with gold.
Menuki : Granulated shakudou with dragon engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Red brown Ishimeji saya.
