Tanto : Bizen Kuni Osafune Yosozaemon Jyo Sukesada Saku/Bunki 2 Nen 8 Gatsuhi

Tanto in Sirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Paper)(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu for Koshirae)

Signature : Bizen Kuni Osafune Yosozaemon Jyo Sukesada Saku (2nd generation).
Bunki 2 Nen 8 Gatsuhi (1502,July.)

Suekoto : Jyo-jyo saku ranking : Bizen province.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 28.0 cm or 11.02 inches.
Sori : 0.2 cm or 0.07 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.58 cm or 1.01 inches.
Kasane : 0.54 cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : Middle Muromachi period. 1502 (510 years ago)
Shape : The blade is wide and thick healthy nice looking shape.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada and mokume hada mixed with jinie attach and light Utsuri appear.
Hamon : Koniedeki gunome midair with ashi and yo work.

Special feature : Bizen Kuni Osafune Yosozaemon Jyo Sukesada is first generation and second generation.
This Tanto belongs to 2nd generation.
At Muromachi period, there are many Sukesada for instance, Bizen Kuni Osafune Sukesada, Bishu Osafune Sukesada also just only Sukesada.
The most famous Sukesada is named Bizen Kuni Jyu Osafune Yosouzaemon Sukesada it is made by the order of family.
In late Muromachi period, they made a lot of many Tanto.
But the Zokumyo Tanto is very rare and hard to find.
This blade’s Nakago is very great condition and Mekugi hole is only one, remaining of yasurime.

Koshirae : Tenkoudou Hidekuni Issaku Koshirae ((NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu).
Tsuba : On the ellipse shaped iron tsuba, it looks like Unryu no zu is engraved. Tenkoudou Hidekuni
Fuchikashira : On the iron plate, it looks like cloud no zu is engraved and lightning bolt is engraved by gold. Tenkoudou Hidekuni
Menuki : On the shakudo plate, cricket is engraved.
Kozuka : On the iron plate, bamboo tree are engraved with gold color iroe.
Kojiri : On the iron plate, feather duster is engraved with gold, silver and suaka cooper.
Kurikata : On the iron plate, yari is engraved with gold and silver iroe.
Saya : Butterfly, dragonfly and bee are painted by gold on Black ishimeji saya.
