Tanto: Mumei (Chikushi Nobukuni school)

Tanto in Shirasaya (NTHK estimation paper)

Signature : Mumei (Chikushi Nobukuni school)

The blade was polished.
Habaki: Copper double foiled habaki with gold color
Blade length : 24.8 cm or 9.76 inches.
Sori : 0.2 cm or 0.07 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.33 cm or 0.91 inches.
Kasane : 0.51 cm or 0.20 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : It is a tanto that is alike naginata.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached. There are
kitae ware seen.
Hamon : Nie structure gunome midare with round end boshi.
There is sunagashi seen.

Special feature : Chikushi Nobukuni is a sword smith group that
has been active at Kyushu Chikugo, Bungo and Higo province.
They were active at Nanbokucho period, early Muromachi period.
Later on, the Nobukuni school that has moved to Kyushu province
followed the tradition and become active in Kyushu.
There tends to be some rough surface at the jigane.
This sword has been attributed as Chikushi Nobukuni.
There are some small kizu but it is nice shape piece.
