Tanto in Koshirae

Signature : Mumei(unsigned)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 27.6 cm or 10.86 inches.
Sori : Uchizori
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.25 cm or 0.88 inches.
Kasane : 0.70 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : It is normal size width and thick kasane. It is sharp style tanto.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached.
Hamon : Constructed in nie structure, nioiguchi is rather deep. Ashi is attached in the ha. Boushi is round end.

Special feature : It is thick tanto with sharpness. It is most likely attributed as shishinto piece.

Koshirae :
Saya : Black ishimeji saya
Tsuba : It is deformed iron tsuba with the rim raised up.
Fuchi : Shakudo nanakoji style with family crest drawn in gold.
Kashira : Black tsuno
Menuki : Fan design with shakudo and copper.
