The blade was polished.
habaki : copper single habaki.
Blade length : 19.8 cm or 7.79 inches.
Sori : Uchizori.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.08 cm or 0.81 inches.
Kasane : 0.69 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : Late Edo to Meiji period.
Shape : The blade is regular size with very thick yore doshi style Tanto.
Jitetsu : Koitame had quite well grained with jinie attach with chikei.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha with kasha and round shaped Boshi.

Special feature :
Shige katsu was a student of Tomoshige Kaga province.
He made nice swords but at Meiji 4th, decree banning the wearing of swords low was issued by Japanese government.
So he was obliged to stop his business.
This sword is good texture with Chikei wonderful Tanto.
So it is a shame that he couldn't continue making swords any longer.
