Tanto in Shirasaya with Koshirae(NBTHK Hozon Paper)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 21.63 cm or 8.51 inches.
Sori : 0.15 cm or 0.05 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.59 cm or 1.01 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Meiji period.(1868)
Shape : This blade is regular sized Hiratsukuri Tanto.
The blade is very thick like Yoroido-shi style.
Jitetsu : Ko-itame hada well grained with Jinie attach like Miji style.
Hamon : Niedeki Suguha with deep Nioikuchi.

Special feature : Tetsushinsai Minamoto Yosikazu was a sword maker at the end of Edo period.
As you know at 4th of Meiji period, Japanese government issued Haito-rei(prohibited to hold Japanese swords law)So these sword
makers including Gassan Sadakazu and many famous sword makers were obliged to abolish his business.
He was also same situation even if his sword technique is high.
This Tanto is very healthy with Ububa and nice work.

Koshirae : The blade accompanied with beautiful Koshirae.
This gorgeous koshirae was special ordered by rich marchant.

Tsuba : On the iron Tsuba, a spider and cobwebs are engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira : Fuchi : On the Shakudo plate, a spider and cobwebs are engraved with gold color. Kashira is iron.
Saya : Kawari nuri sada
Kaeritsuno : On the Shakudo plate, a spider and a fly are engraved with gold color.
Kozuka : On the iron plate, the flowers with gold color.
Kogatana : Signature: Mitsunobu(Kao)
kurikata : There are jade and coral.
Kojiri : On the copper plate, a spider and nest are engraved.
