Wakizashi: Echizen Kuni Ju Shimosaka

Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho paper)

Signature: Echizen Kuni Ju Shimosaka.

The blade was polished.
habaki:silver and gold foiled double habaki.
Blade length :59.8 cm or 23.54 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.59 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.95cm or 1.16inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.04cm or 0.8inches.
Kasane : 0.67cm or 0.26inches.
Era : Early Edo period.
Shape : The blade is rather wide and thick
with suitable sori and longer Kissaki nice looking shape.
Jitetsu :Itame had well grained with jinie attach with blackish Echizen jigane.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha from the hamachi area
and then gunome midair with rick nioikuchi.
Inside of the hamon, there are many sunagashi and small kinsuji work.
Boshi is round shape and the point is brush up hakikake style
and turns backYakisage style.

Special feature : Echizen Shimosaka group are established early Muromachi period
by Echizen Yasutsugu and other sword makers. Of course first generation
Yasutsugu was named Shimosaka as sama as other sword makers in Shimosaka
school. The Jigane is hadamono and nice active hamon.
The sword is almost same size of sword.

Historical background: 1591 Tensyo 19th year.
