This sword belongs to Jo saku ranking.
The blade is polished.
Habaki : silver single habaki.
Blade length : 47.0 cm or 18.5 inches.
Sori : 1.36cm or 0.54 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.7cm or 1.06 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.16 cm or 0.85 inches.
Kasane : 0.615 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Early edo period Keicho era. 1596.
Shape : The blade is suriage nakago (cut shortened) with the signature.
Jigane : Itame hada masanagare with jinie attach and chikei work blackish jigane.
Shinogi ji : Masame hada and itame hada mixed.
Hamon : Niedeki gunome midare. Boshi is midarekomi style.
special feature:The founder of the Fujishima school started by Tomoshige late kamalura period as Rai school. They moved to Kaga
province at Nanbokucho period. They made many swords influenced by northern part of Hokkoku jigane and sword makers.
This group was working at Muromachi period to early Edo but gradually Fujishima school lose their strength.
This sword is typical nice well grained texture of the Fujishima school. and enjoy the nice work of the texture.
Saya : Black Kizami saya.
Tsuba : On the round shape iron tsuba. waves and a turtle and also man hold an iron kettle. probably this design come from Chinese story. MichiTsune saku : Echizen province.
Menuki : Mandarin duck are engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira:on the brass ishimeji plate, painted by gold color.
Kaerizuno:On the syakudo plate, waves are engraved.
Kozuka:On the copper plate, autumn flowers and insects are engraved with gold color.
Kogai:On the copper plate, autumn flowers and insects are engraved with gold color.
