Wakizashi: Kanenori

Wakizashi in Koshirae

Signature : Kanenori
The blade was polished.
Habaki: Silver single foiled habaki
Blade length : 32.7cm or 12.88inches.
Sori : 0.6cm or 0.24inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.98 cm or 1.17inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 0.53cm or 0.21inches.
Kasane : 0.53cm or 0.21inches.
Era : Late muromachi period.
Shape : It has regular width and thickness. There are some sori.
It is hirauchi tanto with hi on both the front and back side. It is nice
shape tanto.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached.
Hamon : Konie base, gnome chouji midare with some up down. The ashi is
well attached and the kissaki is brush up style.

Special feature : Kanenori is a swordsmith of Mino province successful during the late
Muromachi period. There are around seven people of the name of Kanenori so it is rather difficult
to investigate which Kanenori it is. What we can declare is that it is expressing the generation of
that time.
Historical background: Kanenori worked and lived in Mino Province and there are several of
swordsmiths with men of kanenori existing from Bunki to Daiei.
