Dai : Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)
(NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Paper for Daisho Koshirae)
Signature : Mumei (Den Aoe)

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled double habaki.
Blade length : 73 cm or 28.74 inches.
Sori : 1.35 cm or 0.53 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.13 cm or 1.23 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.33 cm or 0.91 inches.
Kasane : 0.58 cm or 0.22 inches.
Era : Late Kamakura to early Nanbokuchyo period.
Shape : It is wide and thick slightly thick sword. The kissaki is long end nice shapy katana.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached.
It is shukumen hada(wrinkled hada) with clear jitetsu.
Hamon : Konie ground, with suguha tightly

Special feature : Aoe school has flourished for a long time from Heian period.
This katana is from late Kamakura period.
Generally Aoe school has shukumen(winkle) hada surface with slight utsuri seen. Mostly the
hamon is suguha style. It is wide and broad long katana that is enjoyable to observe.
There are some o-hada but there is some characteristic of Aoe being seen.
This sword has passed Tokubetsu hozon shinsa. There are some o-hada seen
but the characteristic of Aoe is seen well in the ha. This sword has passed tokubetsu hozon shinsa.

Koshirae :
Tsuba :Round shape shakudou nanakoji hada with mogarashi soten style
Fuchikashira : Granulated shakudo horse design is engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Black roiro saya
Menuki : Shakudou nanakoji plated with wild pig design engraved and inlayed with gold

Width at the Kissaki : 2.38 cm or 0.93 inches.
Kasane : 0.65 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Nanbokucho period Ouan era
Shape : Oosuriage mumei with wide and thick
Jitetsu : Itame hada with mixture of mokume hada. It is well grained with jinie attached.
The is chikei works. Strong jigane. There is chikei seen with strong jigane.
There is stick like utsuri seen.

Hamon :Nioideki kogunome midare with mixture of kochoji midare. There are fine sunagashi and
kinsuji work seen in the ha. There are no turn back at the tip.

Special feature : Bizen Osafune Yoshikage is said to be the student of Bizen Osafune Chikakage,
This piece is magnificent looking healthy wakizashi. Bo utsuri is seen in the hamon. It is sakasa shoji midare
piece. It could be observed as Kanemitsu or Nagayoshi. This wakizashi has passed tokubetsu hozon shinsa.

Tsuba : Round shape shakudo nanakoji with mogarashi soten style engraved
Fuchikashira : Granulated shakudou with horse design engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Black roiro saya
Menuki : Shakudo ground with wild bore engraved and inlayed with gold.
Kozuka : Granulated shakudou with chrysanthemum engraved and inlayed with gold.
