Wakizashi in Koshirae(NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature : (Kikumon) Yamashiro kami Fujiwara Kunikiyo

Shinto:Josaku: Wazamono:Echizen
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 40.6 cm or 15.98 inches.
Sori : 0.6 cm or 0.23 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.93 cm or 1.15 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.98 cm or 0.77 inches.
Kasane : 0.56 cm or 0.22 inches.
Era : Edo Kanei period(1624-1645).
Shape : It is ordinary shape, the sori(curve) is shall or. The kissaki part quite long.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. There are chikei(dark spot)
seen. It is the jigane from the North region.
Hamon : Nie base suguha with bright nioiguchi. Boushi is round end.

Special feature : Yamashiro no kami Fujiwara Kunikiyo school continues to fourth generation.
It is hard to distinguish those of first generation and second generation however, this piece
seems to be first generation signature. The nioiguchi of the ha is identical to Oumi Daijyo Fujiwara
Tadahiro piece. The jigane seems to be similar to those of Hizen but is darker and the hada pattern
is clearer. The ha is rather bright and it seems that it might have been daisho blade. It is
masterpiece of Kunikiyo.

Koshirae :
Tsuba :Round shape iron tsuba. Landscape design is engraved.
Fuchikashira :Iron with wave pattern engraved.
Saya : Black ishimeji saya.
Menuki : Shakudou plate, turtle design is engraved and inlayed with gold.
