Wakizashi in Shirasaya (NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Paper)

Signature : Mumei (Tegai)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled double habaki.
Blade length : 52.1 cm or 20.51 inches.
Sori : 1.4 cm or 0.55 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.68 cm or 1.05 inches.
Width at the kissaki : 2.26 cm or 0.88 inches.
Kasane : 0.64 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Early Muromachi period.
Shape : Oosuriage mumei. It is wide and thick strong work with long Kissaki.
Hamon : Nie deki starting off as suguha and gradually becoming kogunome midare and nijyuba combining.
Much sunagashi kinsuji work is appearing. Boshi is no turn back yakizume style.

Special feature : Tegai school started from Kanenaga in Kamakura period.
From Nanbokucho period to early Muromachi peirod the school was called "Tegai" and from middle Muromachi period to late Muromachi period it is called "Sue Tegai".
The early Kamakura peirod work is deep Nioiguchi suguha and the JIgane is well grained beautiful work.
In later period, much masame hada appear in the Jitetsu.
This work has strong masame hada and the period is from late Nanbokucho period to early Muromachi period.
It is beautiful masame with much Chikei work. The hamon is suguha deki with mixture of double ha and kinsuji activities appearing
