Wakizashi in Koshirae(NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature : Mumei(Shimada)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 53.2 cm or 20.94 inches.
Sori : 1.4 cm or 0.55 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.59 cm or 1.01 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.73 cm or 0.68 inches.
Kasane : 0.65 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : Regular size Wakizashi.
Jitetsu : Itame hada grained with clear hada pattern. There is Jinie attached.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Gunome Midare with thick Nioikuchi.
Boshi is Hakikake shape.

Special feature : Shimada School is a sword smith
of Sagami and has inherited the skill of Soshu Den.
Shimada Sukemune, Gisuke and many swordsmith was active.
This peice has been approved as Shimada.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Iron Tsuba, leaves are engraved with open work.
Fuchikashira : Iron, lotus flower is engraved with gold color.
Saya : Black Roiro Saya.
Menuki : Shakudo, Shishi dog is engraved with gold color.
Kozuka : Shakudo, chiken is engraved with gold and copper color.
There is a dent.
