The blade has high quality polish
Habaki; Gold single foiled habaki
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 36.06 cm or 14.19 inches.
Sori : 0.6 cm or 0.23 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.99 cm or 1.17 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.37 cm or 0.93 inches.
Kasane : 0.69 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : It is wide and thick healthey wakizashi. It is short but long kissaki.
Jitetsu : Koitame Hada well grained with jinie attached. It is clear Jigane.
Hamon : Nie deki with deep Nioiguchi. It is O Gunome midare Doranba.

Special feature : Tegarayama Masatshige was born in Houreki 10th year as the second son of Ujishige Second generation in Hanshu Himeji.
He lived in Tegarayama so the family has signed "Tegarayama" for generations.
At Tenmei 8th year, he moved to Edo to work under Shiraga federal general Matsudaira Sadanobu when he was at the age of 30.
He adored Tsuda Echizen no Kami Sukehiro and made several Doranba works after receiving the post Kai no kami on Kyowa 3rd year.
Other sword smiths such as famous Suishinshi Masahide, Chounsan Tsunatoshi, Osakisuketaka, Sekima Tsunanobu and
Tsunahide also was influenced by Sukehiro's Doranba but Tegarayama Masashige was valued the top of the Doranba works.
The signature 神妙-Shinmyo- on the top is signed only when the smiths made satisfied work.
He has died in Bunsei 13th year July 5th at the age of 71.
It is flawless and absolute masterpiece.
Historical background : Bunsen 6th year 1823 Philipp Siebold, a famous doctor and botanist, has arrived in Japan as Dutch Trading Post Officer.
