Wakizashi : Sokan/Ansei 4, 6 Gatsu Sakujitsu saku

Wakizashi in Shirasaya (NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature : Sokan
Ansei 4, 6 Gatsu Sakujitsu saku (June 1st, 1857)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Sokan belongs to Jyo Saku ranking.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Copper single habaki.
Blade length : 30.8 cm or 12.12 inches.
Sori : 0.2 cm or 0.07 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.92 cm or 1.14 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.6 cm or 1.02 inches.
Kasane : 0.6 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : The shape is Syobu zukuri and nice width and regular thickness.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach.
Hamon : Niedeki wavy temper line with ashi work.

Special feature : Tairyu-sai Munehiro(Sokan) was born at Hurukawa province near the river Abukuma.
He moved to Edo Fukagawa Hakozaki city and studied from Koyama Munetsuggu.
Therefore his first stage of the blade is very close to his master.
After that he made swords as a purpose cut well sword.
So his most of the blade is Kogunome midare with a lot of Ashi.
Some swords has Utsuri appear.
He is good at also engraving.
This wakizashi is nice shape and 2 characters unusual signature.
