Wakizashi in Shirasaya (NBTHK Tokubetsu hozon paper)

Signature : Tegarayama Masashige

The blade was polished by good polisher.
Habaki : Gold iroe single habaki.
Blade length : 45.15 cm or 17.77 inches.
Sori : 0.60 cm or 0.23 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.21 cm or 1.26 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.38 cm or 0.93 inches.
Kasane : 0.6 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : The blade is wide (3.21 cm) and thick healthy blade.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach beautiful clear Jigane.
Hamon : From the Hamachi area, Suguha hamon and then Gunome and Oogunome midare and Doranba with very thick nioikuchi and ashi.
Boshi is round shape wide nioikuchi.

Special feature : Tagarayama Masashige was born at Himeji province Tegarayama.
At Tenmei 8th year, He was engaged by Shirakawa clan Matsudaira Sadanobu for 500 Koku (the name of salary).
After that he moved to Edo and got the title of Kai Kami.
He was strongly influenced from Tsuda Echizen Kami Sukehiro Doranba hamon.
He had been keeping this Doranba or big wavy with deep nioikuchi gunome midare hamon for his long life.
He also famous engraving on the sword.
The blade is wide and thick healthy blade without Kizu and loose hada, openings.
