Yari: Ryokai Ujiyoshi saku

Yari in black color Saya(NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature: Ryokai Ujiyoshi saku

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 28.5cm or 11.22 inches.
Sori : 0 cm or 0 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.35 cm or 0.92 inches.
Kasane : 1.15 cm or 0.45 inches.
Era : Muromachi period Circa Eisho(1504-1520)
Shape : It is rather long and thick nice shape yari.
Jitetsu :KOitame hada with mixture of mokume hada. It is well grained.
Hamon : Nie structure suguha with double ha. There is deep nioiguchi ashi and yo attached.
Boushi is midarekomi style.

Special feature : Ryokai Ujiyoshi is derived from Tsukushi Ryokai.
They have put Yokai Hisanobu and Yokai NObuhisa
They have been active from Mid Muromachi period to Late Muromachi Period.
Ryokai is originally a swordsmith from Yamashiro
province and the smithes who has moved to Chikugo later on were called Chikushi Ryoaki .
It is a piece with feeling of Ryokai.

Historical background: Eisho 5th year Nagashino Castle is engraved.
