Tanto : Mumei(Chikushi Ryokai)

Tanto in Shirasaya with Koshirae.(NBTHK Hozon Paper)(NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho paper for Koshirae)

Signature : Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Chikushi Ryokai.

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saki)This sword belongs to Jyojyo saku
ranking.
The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki :Solid gold double habaki.
Blade length : 26.5 cm or 10.43 inches.
Sori : 0.0cm or 0 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.475cm or 0.974 inches.
Kasane : 0.54 cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : Nanbokucyo period to early Muromachi.
Shape : The blade is Mitsumune style rather
wide with rather wide nice looking shape.
Jitetsu :Itame had and Mokume had mixed
with jinie attach beautiful texture and on the Ji, Utsuri appear.
Hamon : Konie deck suguha and double hamon and round shape Boshi.

Special feature :Chikushi Ryokai is the descendent of Ryokai school of Yamashiro.
At Nanbokucho period the school moved to Toyogo where smiths such as Hisanobu.
Because he was successful at Chikushi, Toyogo, he is called Chikushi Ryokai.
JIgane is mixture of mokume and itame mix.
Jinie is attached with thick with soft utsuri appearing.
From those characteristics, this sword could be observed as historical sword.
There are some swords with masame from mid Muromachi period.
This jigane is especially nice with great jigane.
It is historical blade that tells us it is Ryokai.
It is a sword that was cherished as family treasure for a long period of time.
Genrally Chikushi Ryokai is not high reputation
but this Tanto is excellent Jigane and Hamon.
If the blade will be submitted to the shins, another answer will be judged.
Habaki is solid gold double with nice engraving on the side.

Tsuba: Hamidashi tsuba
Saya:black inure kizami saya.
Huchikashira:On the silver plate, some tiny flowers are engraved by silver.
Menuki:Moon and a flying bird are engraved. Engraving is excellent work.
Kozuka:On the silver plate, some familyy crest is engraved by silver.
kogatana:the signature is mentioned as Sanjyo Horikawa Jyu Yoshikuni.
Kogai:silver plate.
