Shinshin To: Jyojyo Saku: Musashi province.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Kurihara Kenji Nobuhide belongs to Jyojyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Blade length : 71.21 cm or 28.03 inches.
Sori : 1.8 cm or 0.70 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.15 cm or 1.24 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.50 cm or 0.98 inches.
Kasane : 0.61 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : Wide and thick Katana with large Sori. The Okissaki.
There are dragon and Dokko-Ken is engraved.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Gunome Midare with deep Nioikuchi.
There are many Ashi, Sunagashi. Boshi is Midarekomi Togari shape.

Special feature : Kurihara Kenji Nobuhide was well known sword smith of the Kiyomaro student.
He was born in Niigata prefecture 1815.
He was a mirror maker before but studied from famous Kiyomaro.
He liked to engrave on the sword contrary his master Kiyomaro.
His engrave was excellent work so he got high reputation from the sword collectors at that time.
This sword has nice Horomono(engraving) and stately shape.

Koshirae : nice Toppei Koshirae.
Tsuba : Iron Tsuba, doragon, clouds and wave are engraved.
Fuchikashira : Kojiri: phoenix is engraved with gold color and cloth inlay.
Saya : Aogai Chirashi(blue shell) Saya.
Menuki : Harness and bow are engraved with gold color.
