Katana : Bishuu Osafune Tsuneie/Eikyo 6th Year(1434) february

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 63.93 cm or 25.16 inches.
Sori : 2.13 cm or 0.84 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.77cm or 1.09 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.65 cm or 0.65 inches.
Kasane : 0.59 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Muromachi period Eikyo 6th year 1429.
Shape : It is rather short size with sori. It is called katate-uchi sword.
On the front and back side of the katana, it is engraved "Hachiman Daibosatsu(A god that is believed in Japan)" and "Marishiten(One of a guardian deity".
Jitetsu : Koitame hada with mixture of komokume-hada. Jinie is attached with chikei works seen. it is clear jigane.
Hamon : Consisted in konie structure, it is choji midare with ashi attached.
Boushi is midarekomi style. The tip is round end.

Special feature : Bishu Osafune Tsuneie is a sword smith group derived from the Moriie from the Hatakeda school and lasted until Eisho period.
In Hatakeda school, there is Moriie, Tsuneie, Sanemori and other smithes.
The clear yet soft and dignified jigane got their hints from the Ouei Bizen swords.
The founder of Ouei Bizen school is Morimitsu and Yasumitsu.
Tsuneie and Iesuke are those who were strongly influenced by those founders.
The engraved letters of "Hachiman Daibosatsu" and "Marishiten" is artistic work.
It is a masterpiece of Tsuneie. The jigane is especially nice and the quality is no different to the Ouei Bizen sword.
The hamon is similar as well.
It is rich piece and both the jigane and hamon is wonderful.

Koshirae : Tachigoshirae in kinnashiji plate. Aoi(hollyhock) family crest is engraved and inlayed with gold.
Tsuba : Shakudo plate with rim covered in gold inlayed. Hollyhock family credt is engraved and inlayed with gold.
Fuchikashira : Aoi family crest engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Kinnashiji saya
Menuki : The Aoi family crest engraved and inlayed with gold.
