Tanto in Shirasaya(NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature :(Gold inlay signature) Ryokai (Chikushi)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Ryokai (Chikushi) belongs to Saijyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 27.6 cm or 10.86 inches.
Sori : Uchi-Zori (Inside curve)
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.47 cm or 0.97 inches.
Kasane : 0.64 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Late Nanbokucho period to Ouei era.
Shape : One side has Shinogi, the other side is Hirauchi.
This is unusual shape Tanto.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach.
This Jigane looks like Rai school.
Hamon : Nie Deki, tight Suguha Hamon.
Boshi is small round shape.

Special feature : This blade has the gold inlay signature "Ryokai".
From our personal point of view, this blade is Ryokai or Rai school.
But the NBTHK judged as Chikuchi Ryokai.
Hisanobu who has descended the skill of Ryokai has moved to Chikushi and produced swords.
Alike Hisanobu work, it has soft feeling Jigane well grained with fine forging done.
Hisanobu and Yoshizane were some of the sword smiths in the group
that has descended the Suguha Deki and well grained Ryokai and Yamashiro.
This blade is quite healthy. And the shape is very rare.
We strongly recommend this Tanto.
There are slightly rusts. We will remove it when you purchase.
