Katana in Shirasaya with another Shirasaya (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Sayagaki : Hizen koku Ju Mutsu kami Tadayoshi.
The work is excellent. Blade lenght is 69.2cm.
Dr. Kanzan wrote at lucky day of spring, 1974.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijo saku, Jojo saku
Jo saku and regular saku)
This Mutsu Kami Tadayoshi belongs to Jojo saku ranking.
The blade is polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki : Gold foiled double Habaki.
Blade length : 69.2 cm or 27.24 inches.
Sori : 1.3 cm or 0.51 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the Hamachi : 3.14 cm or 1.23 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.24 cm or 0.88 inches.
Kasane : 0.65 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Edo period, around Kanbun era.(around 1661~1672)
Shape : Suriage (cut shortend about 6cm), Machiokuri Katana with Sori.
The shape is elegant.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada well grained with fine Jinie attach.
This is typical Hizen Konuka Hada.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Suguha. There are many Ko-Ashi working.
Boshi is round Togari shape.
Special feature : Mutsu Kami Tadayoshi was a legitimate child of the 2nd generation Oumi Daijyo Tadahiro and succeeded 3rd generation.
He got the title ‘Mutsu Daijyo at Manji’ at Manji 3rd year and changed the title to Mutsu Kami at Kanbun 1st year.
His posthumous work are very few because he helped a lot for his father Tadahiro.
Therefor he made his sword and engraved on the sword tangs are very few.
We can see some beautiful Tadahiro which were made by 3rd generation Mutsu Kami Tadayoshi.
Especially the Jigane of Tadayoshi are excellent and difficult to compare with any other swordsmith.
Many sword collectors like this kind of beautiful texture and elegant Hamon.
This blade is Suriage Machiokuri. But the shape is so nice. And also the Jigane is good.
It is hardly find this kind of sword.
