This Mumei (Den Mihara Masahiro) belongs to Saijo Saku ranking.
The blade was polished
Habaki :
Blade length : 68.8 cm or 27.08 inches.
Sori : 1.4 cm or 0.55 inches.
Mekugi : 3
Width at the hamachi : 3.17 cm or 1.24 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.46 cm or 0.96 inches.
Kasane : 0.55 cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : Nanbokucho period, around 1366.
Shape : Wide and thick blade, Osuriage Mumei Katana.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach. There are Chikei and Utsuri.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Suguha base and Notare mixed with Ashi and Yo.
In Ha, there are many Kinsuji and fine Sunagashi.
Boshi is round shape.

Special feature : Mihara school had been prospered from late Kamakura
to late Muromachi period in Bingo province present Okayama prefecture.
The representative swordsmiths were Masaie and Masahiro.
Especially the works of last Kamakura period to Namboku-cho period
are called Ko-Mihara, and are distinguished from the later period.
This sword is unsigned attributed as Mihara Masahiro by NBTHK paper
which is precious because of correct signature Masahiro not just only Mihara.
This blade has Yamato style and Aoe style.
This blade is one of the best quality Masahiro.
Especially the jigane looks Chirimen hada and wonderful hamon which is very active
elegant ashi and yo which remind us Aoe school.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Round shape iron Tsuba with open work.
Fuchi : Shakudo, autumn flowers are engraved with gold color.
Kashira: Black horn.
Saya : Black Roiro Saya.
Menuki : Shakudo, some insect is engraved with gold color.
Kozuka : Shakudo, flower is engraved with gold color. Mino Goto school.
