Katana: Mumei (Kanesada)

Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae. (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature : Mumei(Unsigned)(Kanesada)

The blade was polished
Habaki :copper double habaki.
Blade length : 62.12 cm or 24.45 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.59 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.67 cm or 1.05 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.76 cm or 0.69 inches.
Kasane : 0.62 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : The blade is suriage (cut shortened) attributesd as Kanesada.
Jitetsu :Itame had well grained with jinie attach and chikei work.
Hamon : Niedeki gunome midair and togari gunome midair mixed and in Ha,
there are many sunagashi and kinsuji work.
Hamon is bright and clear. Boshi is midarekomi style.

Special feature : Kanesada is well known top ranking is Mino province.
We can't say the blade is 2nd well known sword maker but the blade itself
wonderful Jigane and hamon. so the blade might be 2nd or 3rd generation
Kanesada(NBTHK doesn't mention which generation kanesada)

Koshirae :
Tsuba :On the Mokko style iron Tsuba, woods and flowers are engraved withhold color.
Fuchikashira :On the syakudo isimeji karakusa style design
and family crest(crane) are engraved with golsd color.
Saya : The saya was imitated like cherry tree's trunk.
Menuki : Hloweer is engraved by syakudo plate.
