Katana: Mumei (Komihara)

Katana in Shirasaya with Koshiare (NBTHKTokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature: Mumei (attributed as Komihara)

The blade was polished.
Habaki:Gold double foiled habaki.
Blade length : 69.0cm or 27.18inches.
Sori : 2.1cm or 0.83inches.
Mekugi: 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.92cm or 1.15inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.96cm or 0.77inches.
Kasane : 0.8cm or 0.32inches.
Era : Nanbokuchou period.
Shape : Oosuriage mumei. The shape and kasane is thick with long boshi. Sori is rather shallow.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with flow of masa and jinie attached
with clear jigane On the ji there are mix utsuri. Shinogiji has flows of masa.
Hamon : NIe base suguha notare style. Koashi is well seen and the hamon
gradually becomes notare. The top edge is sharp end.

Special feature : Komihara school was working at Bingo province by Masahiro,
Masaie at late Kamakura to early Nanbokucho period.
The neighbor of Komihara was Aoe school and the Jigane is very similar.

Tsuba: Signature: Eshu Hikone ju Mogarashi Soten sei:
On the Shakudo Tsuba, Samurai are engraved with gold and copper color.
Menuki: Dragon with gold color.
Fuchikashira: On the Shakudo nanako plate, Samurai are engraved with gold, silver and copper color.
