Katana : Oite Kouto Inaba Miyamoto Kanenori Zo/Keio 2nd year Feb.

Katana in Shirasaya (NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature : Oite Kouto Inaba Miyamoto Kanenori Zo.
Keio 2nd year Feb.

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Miyamoto Kanenori belongs to Jyojyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 70.8 cm or 27.87 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.31 cm or 1.30 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.55 cm or 1.00 inches.
Kasane : 0.80 cm or 0.31 inches.
Era : Late Edo period Keio era.
Shape : The blade is wide(3.31cm) and thick with ookissaki small sori which is called Kino to style gorgeous style.
Jitetsu : Koitame had well grained with jinie attach nice clear Jigane.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha with nezumi ash and uchinoke work.
Boshi is round shape.

Special feature : Miyamoto kanenori was born 1830 Tenpo 1st at Hoki province.
His real name is Sigahiko Miyamoto and learned sword making at Yokoyama Sukekane for several years and he got the name of Kane from his master Sukekane.
After that he moved to his country Tottori province and worked for chief retainer.
After that he moved to Kyoto province and made swords for pro-Imperialist samurai and also he made Tanto and tachi for emperor.
At Meiji 1776 decree banning the wearing of swords were issued so he was obliged to ffinish making swords.
But This rule was lifted and started to making swords.
Fortunately He was working for Imperialist samurai for making¥g sword before the Meiji period.
So he had a chance to make sword for Ise Temple and achieved high reputation.
So sooner Gassan Sadakazu and also Miyamoto kanenori became Teisitu Gigeiin (The Imperial Household craft one)
1915 He made a sword for Empero Taisyo.
He passed away 1926(Taisyo 15th) age 97.
His technique is big difference from Gassan Sadakazu who made many kind of swords like Sosyo style,
yamato and bizen school variety active sword maker,
but Miyamoto Kanenoro is very quiet and not flashy sword maker.
We can say that his sword is real Japanese sword accompanied Japanese spirit.

Back ground of the history : Keiou 2nd Jan 23rd Ikedaya sod occurred.
Sakamoto Ryoma was staying Ikedaya Ryokan and attacked by Shinsengumi.
Fortunately he could escape from that place.
