Katana : Oshu Sendai ju Fujiwara Kunikane (Shin-shinto)

The blade was polished .
Blade length : 72.4 cm or 28.50 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.59 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.94 cm or 1.15 inches.
Wide at the Kissaki : 1.95 cm or 0.76 inches.
Kasane : 0.76 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : This blade is rather wide and thick Katana with Sori, and rather long Kissaki.
Jitetsu : Masame-hada works very well with Jinie attach.
Hamon : Nie based, Suguha and Ko-midare mix. There are Ko-ashi in Ha.
And there are Kuichigai-ba and Sunagashi in Ha.
Boshi is round shaped.

Special feature : Kunikane was a swordsmith in Mutsu province. Kunikane of same name continued from 1624 to 1880(1st - 13th generation).
The First Kunikane went to Kyoto and learned under Echu (No) Kami Masatoshi.
After that the Kunikane clan handed down the Yamato-den style Masame-hada modeled on Hosho and Senjuin.

This blade was made in late Edo period, and this blade is Shin-shinto.
But this blade has typical features of Kunikane.
The condition of the sword is very healthy without flaws and rusts.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Nade-Kaku shaped Shakudo Tsuba, cow wagon and flowers are
engraved with gold color. Rim is covered with Fukurin, and colored gold.
Fuchikashira : On the shakudo plate, Japanese lobster is engraved.
Saya : Black Roiro Saya.
Menuki : On the shakudo plate, man is engraved with gold color.
